QR Code Generator FAQ
Common questions about QR code generation and usage
QR Types
You can generate QR codes for: Text (any plain text), URLs (website links), WiFi (network credentials), Phone numbers, and Email addresses. Each type has specific formatting requirements to ensure proper scanning.
Error Correction
Error correction levels (L, M, Q, H) determine how much damage the QR code can withstand while remaining scannable. L (7%) is for clean environments, M (15%) is standard, Q (25%) for moderate damage, and H (30%) for high damage tolerance.
WiFi QR Codes
For WiFi QR codes, use the format: WIFI:T:WPA;S:NetworkName;P:Password;; where T is security type (WPA/WEP/nopass), S is network name, and P is password. Leave password empty for open networks.
Capacity
QR code capacity depends on version and error correction level. Version 40 (largest) can hold: 2,953 characters (numeric), 1,817 characters (alphanumeric), or 1,273 characters (binary). Larger data requires larger QR codes.
Customization
Yes! You can customize both foreground (QR code) and background colors. However, ensure sufficient contrast for reliable scanning. Dark QR codes on light backgrounds work best. Avoid using similar colors that might confuse scanners.
Printing
For printing, use at least 1 inch (25mm) per side for reliable scanning. Larger sizes are better for distance scanning. Consider your printing resolution and scanning distance when choosing size.
Download
Click the download button to save as PNG, or use the copy button to copy the image to clipboard. PNG format is best for most uses. The downloaded file will have the exact size and colors you specified.
Security
QR codes are not encrypted - anyone can scan and read the content. Don't use QR codes for passwords, personal data, or sensitive information. They're best for public information like URLs, contact details, or WiFi credentials.
